Certifying language test

A certifying language test is a proof of your knowledge of Dutch. You can take this test at Amal.

You need a proof of the certifying language test in order to:

  • apply for the Belgian nationality,
  • apply for a driver tachograph card,
  • work as a child supervisor,
  • work in public administration,
  • work in education,
  • follow the training and certification programme for public service interpreters,
  • get an exemption for Dutch classes in the civic integration programme. This is an exemption test.

How much does a certifying language test cost?

  • 180 euros for all four parts:
  • 90 euros for the written test (reading and writing).
  • 90 euros for the oral test (listening and speaking).

You pay when you make an appointment for the test.

Please note: the test is free if you want an exemption for Dutch classes as part of the civic integration programme. The test is free if you also sign the civic integration contract.

Did you fail the test? A staff member at Amal will review the next step with you.

How does the certifying language test work?
