A school for your child

1.

Register your child online

Is your child between 2.5 and 11 years old? Do you know a primary school that you like in Ghent? Register your choice online during the annual registration period. Then you have a better chance of getting a place at that school for the next school year. You should also register your preferred school online for the first year of secondary education and when your child switches to education for children with special needs (special needs education). Amal will assist you during the registration period. Send an email to Ludmila.

Is your child still learning Dutch?

Is your child between 12 and 17 years old? In an OKAN class (reception class for non-Dutch-speaking newcomers) as part of secondary education, young non-Dutch speakers receive a lot of Dutch lessons and are being prepared for secondary education.

Is your child between 6 and 11 years old? The way in which your child's Dutch skills are supported in primary education depends on the school. This may be a full-time or part-time language immersion class, extra support a few times a week, volunteer help, etc.
