Are you over 18 and do you want to continue your education?

Do you want to obtain a higher education degree? Then follow our Preparation Programme.

  • You will follow an intensive academic Dutch course.
  • You will receive advice about study methods: How can you study efficiently? How can you deal with stress?
  • You will learn about the education system: What study programmes are there? How do I enrol?
  • You can follow English, mathematics, physics and chemistry if you want.
  • You may already be able to follow classes at a college or university.

Practical information

  • For who?
    • You have a certificate of secondary education or a higher education degree.
    • You have (recently) migrated to Flanders.
    • You are not staying in Belgium with a student visa.
    • You have to pass the selection procedure: an assignment and an interview.

    From the end of September until the end of June.

  • Price

    600 euros (standard price) or 400 euros (discount price, subject to conditions).

I was introduced to the Preparation Programme by the UCT (the Ghent University language centre).

I wanted to take Dutch classes at UCT and then they informed me that the Preparation Programme was a good option for me. The Preparation Programme is very interesting and has been of great added value to me personally. I learned about the practical side of studying. For example, the difference between professional and academic bachelors and about my rights and obligations as a student. That's how I found out that I was allowed to use a dictionary during exams. I would definitely recommend the Preparation Programme to future students.

You will get to know the Flemish education system. A counsellor will help you put together your curriculum.

I recommend everyone to follow the Higher Education Preparation Programme via Amal. You will get to know the Flemish education system. A counsellor will help you put together your curriculum. You can also choose to take a few courses from your study programme. And you get to know other students.
